  • I have a physical/neurological disability that makes me extremely vulnerable, as I can’t be upright without serious physical harm. I also don’t have the ability to work so I have very low income. (medical evidence, income evidence)
  • Recently I was referred to a mental health team without my consent. They are the sort of mental health service known for trying to institutionalise disabled people and I have been mistreated by similar services in the past.
  • The mental health team requires that I have adequate medical and nursing services in place or they will intervene with coercive psychiatric processes that will end up seriously harming me.
  • I cannot leave my room without being transferred by a private paramedic service which is the only company in Sydney that can provide adequate spinal support. I cannot access this right now because I owe them thousands in bills. (link to invoices)
  • My GP hasn’t been able to arrange a home visit so far. I need to broaden my options, specifically I need to pay off my paramedic bills so I can see him in his practice if needed and see my neurologist.
  • The mental health team has also been monitoring my contact with my home care agency, and I would need to pay about $200/week to this agency to maintain consistent home care to keep the mental health team happy.
  • I have an appointment with my neurologist on 17th March, and the mental health team knows this. I need to pay off my paramedic bills by then so that they don’t think that I’m unable to maintain my paramedic bills and travel to essential appointments.
  • I’m still in contact with the case worker who referred me to the mental health team without my consent. I can’t stop working with her under the current circumstances without risking having the mental health team being alerted to this. The only way I can safely cease contact with her is if the mental health team stops monitoring me after I go to a medical appointment or if I move out of the area, neither of which I can do without transport.
