hey I'm really struggling with the Star Wars fitness challenge (Rey specifically) . I know you guys aren't fitness gurus or anything but got any tips? I'm persevering but boy this sucks sometimes

I’ll give you the tips my brother gave me, since he’s the fitness expert. 

Chez’s Running Tips & Tricks:

-Eating. You want to eat LIGHT an hour/hour and half BEFORE you go out running. Eating big before hand and immediately going to excercise is gonna cause you to cramp sooner. And eating on an empty stomach will feel like you have no energy (cause you dont)

-Time.  You might want to go running first thing in the morning, but this is actually one of the HARDEST times to go running. Because your just waking up and your body isnt really ready yet. You’re like a booting computer. Your lungs and muscles and body temp is like, “whoa man just, give me a moment I gotta connect to the wifi–fuck, do you want steam open?’”  Not that you can’t do this, but if your having trouble running this early, this is why. (You also havent eaten in ten hours, think about that.) One of the best times is AFTERNOON, a couple hours after lunch. Your body is in peak body temp at this time. Its READY. 

-Shoes. Shoes matter waaaaaay more than you think they do. You NEED running shoes specifically, not just sneakers. If you can afford it, buy running shoes. You will be AMAZED with how different it feels. With the arch of your foot and the support around your ankle. You won’t get those achy toes and heels. IF YOU CANT AFFORD RUNNING SHOES– Invest in RUNNING SOCKS. Yes, those exist. They aren’t that expensive either (I mean they are for fucking socks, but–) It will make a world of difference. You’ll be able to run for longer amounts of time. 

-Where. ITS HARDER TO RUN OUTSIDE THAN IT IS INSIDE. It just is. Your fighting against a different kind of friction and incline outside than you are on a treadmill. Generally, if your running outside, its easier to run against asphalt than it is sidewalk. If you can and its safe), stay on the street FACING TRAFFIC.

-Push. Don’t fucking push yourself. If your running and you lungs start to burn and you feel like you need to slow down, SLOW DOWN. Walk until you feel ready to get back in your jog. Just because you plan to run for 40 minutes doesn’t mean you can’t walk for 10 minutes or 15 minutes of it. And just because your walking DOESNT mean your not burning calories. You are! 

-Sound. If you can hear your feet smacking the ground really loud, your running too hard. Keep your steps light. Add a spring to your step and relax. Your more than likely overthinking it. You don’t gotta over extend your knee either, your steps should land RIGHT BENEATH YOU, not super forward. Keep straight, don’t lean forward. We arent running from TIE fighters here. 

-Breathe. Keep your head UP. Don’t stare at your feet when you run and keep your mouth open. This relax your jaw and helps you BREATHE. Breathing is key to endurance running. Also 3-2-3 if your breathing pattern. Inhale, step one two three (right left right), Exhale, step one two (left right), repeat. You want to be breathing in time to your running cadence. 

-Talk. For jogging (not sprints) if you cant carry a conversation while your running, your running too hard. 

AND STRETCH BEFORE AND AFTER! SERIOUSLY DO NOT SKIP THIS EVER NEVER.
