you guys. there are criminological theories about egoism before the good of the people as a whole that hold rock solid in all countries but japan because they’re so focused on the needs of the many. death note is so cool to watch from that POV because his shift from house-cleaner to general maniac is so atypical for japan specifically. this story set in the west is just another entitled white kid who’s been told he’s the king of the world his entire life. there is no journey to egoism because he’s already there.
