Sherlock is babysitting John’s five-year-old daughter, and she states that she’s Cinderella and asks for Sherlock to be her shining prince and dance with her.

Sherlock simultaneously thinks about when he taught John how to Waltz before his wedding, how he lost the role he wanted in John’s life the moment he stepped off of the roof of St. Bart’s, how he’ll never have a partner or family or kid of his own, and how that had never bothered him before John limped into his life. Biting back tears, and donning a crooked smile, he lifts the tiny preschooler off of the ground, causing her to giggle with surprise and delight, and dances across the toy-cluttered floor with her folded into his arms.
