HOMEMESSAGEARCHIVE

That scene with the talk in the greenhouse…as a shipper, I’m like, “Yasss, keep digging!”

But as an asexual, I’m like, “Nnno.” That’s a talk that we all get. Every person I trust has asked said those same words to me, in one form or another, often followed by increasingly personal questions. As an asexual, I found it disappointing to have them say “You’re a human!! You’re flesh and blood!! Suck a dick!” (alright so maybe that’s not exactly how it went, but basically)

Oh, my goodness. I’m so relieved that someone else felt that way about that scene as well! I’m asexual and I couldn’t believe the way John just dehumanised Sherlock, after all the years he’s known him. Like, John should take Sherlock’s word for it and stop pushing this idea of “impulses towards women”. I was so sad watching it. ALTHOUGH, after finding out it was all in Sherlock’s head, it actually made sense to me and I calmed down. I recognise the fear of someone you care about questioning the validity of your feelings and calling you “cold” and whatnot for not fitting the norm. That’s the fear that keeps me from coming out. And I can understand how Sherlock might have dreamt that as a sort of a nightmare scenario, or the expression of his anxieties about what others must think of him.

i love when people headcanon sherlock as being on the asexual spectrum but homoromantic and shipping him sexually with men (john)

like it gives asexual representation while accepting that /a/sexualities are fluid, there can be exceptions, grey-asexuality and demisexuality exist, or that john is just so fascinating and wonderful that sherlock feels things he rarely/never felt in the past
