More WIP photos of my cat fursuit head (taken with quality phone cam wow). Ears are furred (but not completely finished), the mesh is secured over the eyes, and there are vents in the ears and nose. Vision, jaw sensitivity, and air circulation are fantastic in this mask. I hope these features stay in the finished piece.
Next steps: duct tape pattern, furring, and detailing (inside of mouth, eyes, dry brushing).
blacklitespecial:
The progression of a mask commission. It starts out with a resin mask blank fitted with eyes and a jawset. The next step is to use masking tape to create a pattern. That pattern is cut off the blank and laid out onto the faux fur. once the fur is sewn together, it’s laid over the blank like a skin and glued into place. The fur is then shaved down to an appropriate length, tapering it so that it transitions into the longer cheek ruffs. ApoxieSculpt details such as lips and eyelids are added, then the mask is airbrushed to give it the final shading. The last details that are added are horsehair whiskers.
