Roses are red, that much is true, but violets are purple, not fucking blue.
I have been waiting for this post all my life.
They are indeed purple,
But one thing you’ve missed:
The concept of “purple”
Didn’t always exist.
Some cultures lack names
For a color, you see.
Hence good old Homer
And his “wine-dark sea.”
A usage so quaint,
A phrasing so old,
For verses of romance
Is sheer fucking gold.
So roses are red.
Violets once were called blue.
I’m hugely pedantic
But what else is new?
poemsforpersephone:
what if
when icarus fell
apollo caught him
before he hit the sea,
arms as warm as the sun,
but safer.
what if
when ariadne cast the rope
across a broken branch
aphrodite stepped in
with a reminder that this,
this is not the kind of love
you die for.
what if
when achilles
was ready for war
ares appeared with a smile
and said “you win well when you win,
but what are you unwilling
to lose if you lose?”
and achilles knew the answer.
if you could
retell the tale wouldn’t you want
to tell it kinder? wouldn’t you
want to give them peace, even love,
where you could?

Sherlock secretly read the poetry that John sent to his girlfriends not only for the amusement he admitted to later, but to pretend - just for a moment - that John’s boundless romanticism and the cheesy but heartfelt writing contained in the stanzas were intended for him.

This was fun. My younger sister got a purple rose from a dance recital she was in, and we put it in a wide wine glass. I loved all the interesting dabs of color in the lights, and just the photo in general of the wine glass rose. As I always do, I thought it would be fun to add a poem on top.

A lovely poem by a friend of mine. Although I’m not quite sure how accurately I captured the essence of the poem, the picture was really fun to make :)
Please, do me a favor and never stop writing <3
