- Jim does no dehumanize Sherlock. He glorifies him, practically. He makes Sherlock live up to his full potential, and urges Sherlock to separate himself from the people that are not as intelligent as he is, people who will never be his equal.
- Sherlock is extremely intrigued by Jim’s presence alone. He doesn’t prove his cleverness because when he does that to other people, they go away, they dislike him, they say things like ‘Piss off.’ or ‘Freak.’ but Sherlock is so infatuated with Jim’s brilliance that Jim has to make Sherlock prove that he knows something, because Sherlock does not want to push away his only equal.
Two extremely valid reasons as to why Sherlock and Jim could be in a healthy relationship that could be good for the both of them. If it’s affection you’re worried about, Jesus Christ, Jim practically throws his sexuality at Sherlock within two minutes of their first confrontation.
“Is that a British Army Browning L9A1 in your pocket, or are you just pleased to see me?”
Which, I’d like to remind you, Sherlock replies with:
“Both.”
