It’s hot as fuck outside so lemme post something cool.
I was going thru my files and I realized I never posted this. I threw it together when those Lace Shorts were a thing in the media for like a week before completely falling off my radar. :’D
Will you help me?
I love this, it highlights so well Finn and Kylo being narrative foils. They both have to make a choice, doing good or doing evil. Finn, although raised in an abusive and evil system who conditioned him to be a mindless killing machine, goes against everything he’s been taught to do good. Kylo, although raised in a loving family of good people, makes the conscious choice of doing - and being - evil.
And throughout the movie, they are both presented with the same choice again and again : Finn chooses to do good instead of preserving his own life when he defects and saves Poe, he chooses to do good instead of running for his life when he saves Rey from the Stormtroopers, when he goes back to the battlefield on Takodana instead of going to the outer rim, when he goes back to Starkiller base to try to rescue Rey, when he makes Phasma lower the shields to help the Resistance. And same for Kylo : he chooses to kill Lor San Tekka and to order the massacre of an entire village when he could have spared them, he chooses to kidnap and torture a girl instead of going after the droid like he was ordered, and despite feeling the pull of the light he deliberately fights it and ignores it, and chooses to kill his own father so he can go further into the Dark Side.
Finn, born and raised in the Dark, chooses the Light over and over, despite how hard it is and despite the fact that helping others may cost him his life. Kylo, born and raised in the Light, chooses the Dark over and over, despite being offered forgiveness and love by his father.

To Reiterate: The chosen “week” is about Finn, not the other two parts of the trio, not Kylo Ren, Hux or Phasma, the OT crew. Finn.
To Reiterate: You can make gifs and edits, write fanfic, draw fanart, fanvids, meta, or whatever else your heart desires. There are seven days of fun topics at the mercy of your interpretation. We hope you will participate.

What a great movie :)
I already started animating Rey too, but I’m not sure if I can finish it before everything gets stressful, besides it’s a bit spoiler-y so I would hold it back for some time anyway.
Edit: The Rey one ended up being a fight scene, you can see it here

How does it feel to be a part of a franchise with this kind of legacy? It feels really cool and quite weird at the time, because you don’t think about all of those specifics when you’re auditioning, because it’s all about booking the part, and you don’t think about that while you’re filming because it’s about the reality of the scenes. But, the characters don’t know that they’re in Star Wars movie that will change people’s lives. They’re in their reality. I remember being with my driver in the UK when we’re going to the set, and he said: You know what, mate? When you die, you’re not gonna be really dead because you’re gonna be everywhere anyway, and I just thought that’s an interesting thought. So, it’s quite surprising to be a part of that.
