#i love the camera perspectives in this scene #but notice how when jim starts making threats #when his mental instability begins to shine through #his ‘insanity’ if you will#the pieces begin to overlap #as if it’s all a little bit mashed together and out of sequence#it’s a brilliant way to demonstrate jim’s mental state #and sherlock’s subsequent reaction is to kick him out #i think jim’s madness frightens sherlock #it’s a trap he doesn’t want to fall into #if he had paid more attention to it when he would have realised that jim was a ‘very desolate very lonely very unhappy man’ #sooner #he could have saved everyone involved a great deal of hassle and pain #but he chose to dismiss it #he made the conscious decision to see jim as a villain and nothing more #it’s the same mistake the fandom makes #and that’s probably why he couldn’t beat him #he was so shocked when jim committed suicide #as if he hadn’t seen it coming #as if he thought he could push him into a corner without consequence #i don’t think he quite considered that jim was so desperately unhappy that he was prepared to take his own life #lol at people who say ‘HE DID IT TO WIN THE GAME’
